Alorro Beach Resort, San Remegio Samal

Alorro beach is located in San Remegio, in the Island Garden City of Samal. The sea is jewel-blue and the beach is clean white with its fine sand. Not far from the resort are cliffs which is a walking distance should you like to venture that far. I did out of curiosity and it was all worth it. You can see magnificent limestone formation covered with green vegetation and trees. The place can surely satisfy weary visitor.

Alorro Beach, San Remegio

Location

While the place is an inviting treasure of nature, getting to it is never easy. The location of the resort is about 5 kilometers from the main road or it could be less. What makes the travel seemed like forever is the rough road, and when I say rough, I am using it with the strictest sense of the word. Maybe it's better this way so you when you get to the beach, you will all the more treasure every bit of your experience knowing that you had to traverse an unbelievably difficult road just to get there. Imagine yourself riding on a roller coaster - this is the ups and downs of the road plus with all its twists and turns.

Cottages and Camping Area

Those who plan of staying overnight might as well prepare a huge tent for everyone because the resort doesn't have enough cottages for their visitors. The number of their cottages (close and open type) are very limited.

The only other problem with tent is the camping area. Just like the number of cottages they have, the camping area is also very limited. You may camp along the beach outside of the resort's premises but it will defeat the purpose of paying your entrance fees and all.

Crystal Clear Water of Alorro

Canteen

Sometimes, visitors prefer to just buy their food when they get to their destination than going through the hassle of preparation and carrying them all the way there. If you prefer this, it's time you change your mind. All they have is a small "sari-sari" store where you can buy canned goods, soft drinks, and such for a ridiculous price - a total rip off! You may think, maybe you can buy from the marketplace - well, you will have to travel back the road rough road.

Buying raw stuff and cook them in the resort seems like a good idea until you find out that they don't really have a place for you to cook - only a grilling area. But since we are Filipinos, we will always find a way, won't we? What other visitors do is reach out to the locals in the neighborhood and ask them to cook the food for an agreed price. Ah... genius, isn't it? This is if you are comfortable asking a random stranger to prepare your food for you. :-)

Transportation

Public transportation in the are is limited to "habal-habal" because of the undeveloped road. Now since the transportation is also very limited, drivers tend to take advantage of it so they charge a minimum of 150-200 pesos per head to get you to the resort from the main road and the same amount back. How is that for a vacation eh?

Those who have their own car or motorcycle are lucky but I personally, will never take my motorcycle to that place again until the road is fixed. I never intend to use my motorcycle in such a pitiful road unless it's extremely necessary. Oh, I just remembered that other visitors rented a boat to leave the resort. So you might want to take this route instead which I too would like to take.

Electricity

I am not sure whether or not there were electrical outlets in the cottages because all the them were already taken when I got to the resort. Although I noticed some visitors going to the "sari-sari" store to have their phones charged for a fee of which I am uncertain.

Prices

  • table only - 100 pesos

  • entrance is 30 pesos (day tour) and 40 pesos (overnight)

  • open cottages - 300 pesos

  • close type cottages - from 400 to 700 pesos

  • public transport - 200 pesos per head (habal-habal)

To Sum It All Up

So if you are working on a tight budget and just doesn't have all the patience in the world to go through a bunch of hassles, this place is definitely NOT RECOMMENDED! But if after having read and known all these about the resort, you still want to visit - by all means do. The beach is definitely a beauty!
