Tinuy-an: The Little Niagara Falls Of The Philippines

Beautiful beaches, awesome springs, magnificent water falls, skyscraping mountains - you name it, Mindanao has it! This southernmost and second largest main island of the archipelagic Philippines is bestowed with the nature's finest gifts. And when we speak of natures' finest in the island of Mindanao, Tinuy-an Falls is surely going to make to the top of the list.


Located in Burboanan, about an hour ride from Mangagoy which is Bislig City's center of commerce, this magnificent water fall is one of Surigao Del Sur's main tourist attractions.


Tier 2, Tinuy-an Falls

Every year, thousands of travelers visit the place to see its majestic rock formation; feel the refreshing atmosphere of the forest; and be awed by the cascading water down the mountains. If you love traveling to appreciate nature, then Tinuy-an is must travel destination for you.


There aren't much activities you can but you sure have a lot to experience - listen to the tweets of the birds; breathe the fresh air of the forest; admire the gigantic century old trees; and be awed by the magnificent water fall itself

If you are kind of worried about where to stay or buy stuff when you need them, the city government has done well in ensuring safety and convenience of their visitors. They have cottages for rent should you wish to stay overnight. They have vendors located just outside the camping area who sell bottled water, food, soda, souvenirs, and a whole lot of other important stuff at very reasonable price. As for transportation, there are Habal - Habal drivers who can take you to the city proper. Parking lot is also not a problem and although the road is not paved, it's pretty much accessible.


Water massage, Tinuy-an Falls

While in Tinuy-an, never miss the chance to board their bamboo raft and experience the "water massage". Don't have a waterproof camera? Ask your tour guides. You can have unlimited shots during your bamboo raft ride for only 300 pesos. When the ride is over, you can have the pictures transferred to your own flash drive or memory card.


You can also take a guided tour up the mountains all the way to the first tier of the waterfall. The tour guides don't charge you, so it's up to you to you how much you will give them once the tour is up. Although, if you would, please be generous to them.


And last but not the least, take the "fish foot spa". Just right in front of the cottages, there is a fish pond. Now sit on the edge of the pond and dip your feet into the water. Soon enough, a school of small fish will be feasting on those dead skin off your feet!
